Where is the gallbladder located in the body? All of us have heard of this organ, but many of us don’t know where it is. The gallbladder is located beneath your ribcage, on the right side of your abdomen, next to your liver. Its function is to concentrate the bile produced by your liver and regulate the release of bile whenever you eat. After a meal, your gallbladder will release some bile in order to help digestion. Bile breaks down the fats from foods. Without it, digestion would be very difficult. The bile is created in the liver; then it goes to the intestines, passing through the bile duct. Gallbladder takes part in controlling the release of bile. After a meal, the bile will be secreted and it will take part in digestion process. The fats contained in foods will trigger the release of CCK – a hormone that stimulates the gallbladder to pass the bile to the intestines.

Gallbladder problems usually start with pain beneath your ribs, on the right side. This is where the gallbladder is located. However, if you feel the pain in this part of your body, it does not mean you have gallbladder problems. The pain can indicate many different problems, so you should visit your doctor to see what is wrong.
